Abstract submission is open from 1 January to 13 February 2026, 24:00 CET. Please note that there will be no deadline extension.

Abstract submission is free of charge and must fulfil the below criteria:

  • The research is original, i.e., not already published or accepted for publication in any peer-reviewed journal nor in any book at the time of abstract submission deadline (13 February 2026).
  • The research has relevance for sport and/or exercise and its effects on performance and/or health and/or aspects of well-being.

After undergoing the review process, all authors will be informed about the acceptance or rejection of their submission on 1 April 2026 via email. Also, the notification will be published in the submitter’s ECSS account by then.

Top reasons to submit your abstract:

  • be part of the largest multi- and interdisciplinary Congress in sport science
  • earn international recognition for your work
  • boost your career while participating in the ECSS Young Investigators Award and GSSI Sports Nutrition Award
  • receive feedback that helps you progress
  • make important professional connections

Please note that each author may submit only one abstract.

Authors are free to choose between Oral Presentation, Conventional Print Poster Presentation or E-poster as a preferred format during the abstract submission process. The final decision about the presentation format lies with the ECSS Scientific Board and is also due to the settings of the Scientific Programme. It will be announced within the acceptance notification on 1 April 2026. Slots (day & time) assigned to presenters are non-modifiable.

Authors can choose between five disciplinary fields and perspectives (Applied Sports Sciences; Biomechanics & Motor Control; Physiology & Nutrition; Psychology, Social Sciences & Humanities; Sports & Exercise Medicine & Health) and a respective subtopic represented in the Scientific Programme. Please review more information on our five General Fields before abstract submission.

Please note that no changes to presentation formats or updates to abstract contents are possible after the abstract submission is completed.
