Only proposals meeting the below criteria will proceed to review.
- Proposal submission period: 1 September to 14 November 2025 (24:00 CET) via ECSS account.
- Submitters must be ECSS members.
Criteria for Plenary Sessions & Invited Symposia
- The topic must be highly relevant, ideally with societal impact.
- Plenary Sessions: Two speakers must represent two of the five ECSS discipline areas:
- Applied Sports Sciences
- Biomechanics & Motor Control
- Physiology & Nutrition
- Psychology, Social Science & Humanities
- Sports & Exercise, Medicine & Health
Preference for combining Social and Natural Science.
- Chair and speakers must not be affiliated with the same institution and represent different genders and (ideally three) different countries.
- Chair and speakers may appear in only one proposal across all formats (double-check that no one is committed to a second proposal).
- Complete all submission fields accurately.
- Session description: max 1500 characters (incl. spaces).
- Each speaker must provide an individual abstract of max 3000 characters (incl. spaces).
- Along session and abstract titles, please also provide short titles of max 90 characters (incl. spaces). Title and short title do not necessarily have to be different.
- At submission step 4/4: Upload a short CV (max. 2 pages, PDF) for each speaker.
After proposal acceptance:
- Each speaker is asked to upload a profile picture (JPG, max 2MB) via their individual ECSS account for the Congress website speaker profiles.
- Optionally provide a short promotional video of your session contents which can be shared via ECSS social media accounts. (Technical requirements can be found here, see examples here: #1, #2, #3.)
Congress presentation:
- Presentation format: PowerPoint (16:9).
- Presentations must be pre-uploaded via the ECSS account or in the Speakers Ready Room at the Congress (at least one day before presentation). No personal laptops or USBs allowed.
Submission types
Plenary Sessions
With one session per day (on Wed, Thu, Fri) and no parallel sessions, Plenaries represent the most prestigious sessions, focusing on a ‘hot scientific topic’ of broad interest.
The organising chair is supported by a local co-chair (co-chair is assigned, not proposed) and proposes two speakers.
The duration is 1 hour and 15 minutes, composing two 30-minute talks and 15 minutes for introduction and discussion.
The organising chair and the speakers benefit of waived Congress registration fees, accommodation at the Congress hotel during the Congress days and an economy class return airfare to Lausanne, courtesy of the ECSS.
As chair and/or Plenary speaker we expect a contribution to the Congress as follows:
- The chair organises a session with two speakers.
- Speakers present one 30-minute keynote each.
- Chair additional sessions in expertise area (oral/poster).
- Allow for your session to be filmed and streamed to ECSS.tv (YouTube channel).
- Actively participate in sessions of your interest.
- Attend social events and engage in media promotion for the publicity of the Congress.
Invited Symposia
The organising chair is supported by a local co-chair (co-chair is assigned, not proposed) and proposes three speakers of which the organising chair is one.
The duration is 1 hour and 15 minutes, composing three 20-minute talks and 15 minutes for introduction and discussion. Exact timings are left to the discretion of the chair but must not exceed the scheduled 75 minutes.
The invited speakers benefit of waived Congress registration fees. Accommodation and travel expenses are at own expense.
As chair and/or Invited speaker we expect a contribution to the Congress as follows:
- The chair organises a session with three speakers (of which the chair is one).
- Speakers present one 20-minute talk each.
- Chair additional sessions in expertise area (oral/poster).
- Allow for your session to be filmed and streamed to ECSS.tv (YouTube channel).
- Actively participate in sessions of your interest.
- Engage in media promotion for the publicity of the Congress.
