On the occasion of the 30th Annual Congress of the ECSS, the Department for Life Quality Studies of the University of Bologna is organising a public lecture to introduce citizens to sport science.
"How Science Helps Win in Sport" is an event designed to show sports enthusiasts, coaches, athletes and curious minds how scientific research contributes to improving athletic performance, optimising training and preserving athlete health.
During the event, internationally recognised researchers and sports professionals will explain - through practical examples and accessible language - what sport sciences are and how they are applied in two sports where Italy excels at the global level: cycling and swimming.

Speakers

  • Prof Samuele Marcora - University of Bologna - Department of Sciences for the Quality of Life, Member of the Scientific Commission of the Italian Cycling Federation
  • Prof Maurizio Bertollo - "G. d'Annunzio" University of Chieti-Pescara - Department of Medicine and Aging Sciences, President of the Scientific Commission of the Italian Cycling Federation
  • Dr Diego Bragato - Head of the Performance, Italian Cycling Federation; Technical Commissioner of the Women's National Track Team

Official ECSS Congress App

In view of the increasing importance of sustainability and the digital progress, the ECSS has abolished the previously printed final programme and implemented the ECSS Congress App!

This app is freely available and all registered Congress participants can access the ECSS Annual Congress event, this year specified as 'ECSS Rimini 2025' via the registered email address (i.e., the email address indicated in your ECSS account).

Note: If you do not receive the app verification code via email, please send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., providing a different email address then the one you are registered with as well as your phone number including the country code. Be assured that, in line with our privacy policy, your mobile phone number will not be displayed in the app. However, standard automted emails are sometimes blocked by mail providers and the code can also be received as an SMS.

The app guides you through the Congress with all the necessary information on presentations, speakers, exhibition, additional meetings, social programme, floor plans, allows you to connect with colleagues and friends, create your personalised Congress schedule and much more!

Instructions and tips for managing the app as well as support videos can be found on the app home screen when you log in. Please review these instructions carefully as it is crucial to understand how the app works to make the most out of your Congress experience.

LiveVoice Poster App

The ECSS has partnered with LiveVoice GmbH for a flexible and easy online solution for our poster presentations during the ECSS Annual Congress. The number of listeners is no longer limited as you can use your own mobile device or laptop and you can easily switch between poster sessions if you want to change sessions in between. Simply download the app, enter the event code 950 825 and click on the poster session you want to listen to. If a poster session is inactive in the LiveVoice app, please wait until the chair has started the session. Remember to bring your own headphones! A summary of the above can also be found here.

Poster session locations can be checked on the poster session floor plan in the ECSS Congress App and the poster session number will be displayed at the top of each poster board.

The LiveVoice app requires an internet connection. A dedicated Wi-Fi access for the poster sessions will be available in the Congress centre for all Congress participants but you may also use your mobile data. Access details will be available in the ECSS Congress App closer to the Congress.

Booth Talk - Dr. Kurucsai
Date: Wednesday, 2 July

Location: ID 23

Why do muscles switch to anaerobic functioning? Is it reversible? Whole body measurements indicate that the load on a single muscle group can push the entire body into an anaerobic zone, even when local sensors still detect an aerobic zone.
The observation in practive showed that by switching the load on muscle groups, such as changing technique, the energy-efficient utilisation of fat in functioning muscles can be maintained or prolonged, thus making the anaerobic zone reversible.
We will continuously present live, hands-on workshops on the topics of by-product eliminiation and metabolic logistics, open to all interested.
