The assessment of strength, power and frailty is a key component in the evaluation of functional capacity and health status in older adults. In applied and clinical settings, assessment tools must be not only valid and reliable but also time-efficient, safe and easy to implement across different populations and contexts.

This Masterclass introduces PowerFrail, a validated tool for the rapid assessment of strength, power and frailty in older adults and provides a structured overview of its practical application. Participants will be guided step by step through the assessment protocol, including safety considerations, interpretation of key outcome metrics and the identification of functional deficits and frailty risk.

In addition to the practical demonstration, the Masterclass will critically reflect on the translation of assessment results into exercise prescription and decision-making. Particular emphasis will be placed on contextual factors that may influence the implementation of PowerFrail in clinical, community and exercise-based settings. Participants will be encouraged to actively engage in discussion, sharing experiences and perspectives related to assessment feasibility, usability and transferability.

The Masterclass is designed for researchers and practitioners working in the fields of ageing, exercise science, health and performance, who are interested in evidence-based assessment methods and their application in practice. The interactive format aims to support knowledge exchange within a trustful learning environment and to stimulate ideas for future research and applied work.

Structured introduction, practical demonstration and interactive discussion.

Researchers, practitioners, and professionals working with older adults in clinical, health, or exercise settings.
